Mr. Anil Bhatnagar, the General Manager of SAIL was
interviewed regarding his opinion about career pathing by organizations. He
believes that every individual has a definite purpose in life and it is the
organization that has to help the individual discover the purpose. This unfolding of individual purpose has
to be systematic.
- First, the
employee should be asked what kind of a job makes him feel good. The
organization should observe the commendable goals achieved by the individual.
This brings to light what the employee strongly feels for the does not feel
tired of doing.
- Second, the
organization should give the employees slots in line with the purpose for
example, if the purpose of the employee is to share information, the
organization needs to help the employee reach the desired goal. The
individual purpose should match with the organizational goal.
- Third, the
organization needs to motivate the employees to help them achieve the desired
satisfaction in regard to their career. Mr. Bhatnagar strongly feels that appreciation plays a
defined role in motivating employees.
The individual has to enjoy a job satisfaction so that the
organization brings out the best from him.
